Guwahati: Amid the ongoing COVID-19 scare, positive news has come from Barpeta medical college as doctors there conducted the first caesarean section of a COVID positive pregnant lady on Monday.
This is not the only case, wearing PPE, the medical team in Jorhat medical college performed one ovarian cyst surgery and two caesarean sections on Monday on COVID positive patients too.
Informing these, Assam minister for health and family welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to the doctors and other staff members of both the leading hospitals of the state.
Regarding the first caesarean section of a COVID positive pregnant lady, the minister in his Twitter said, “Wearing PPE kits, our team in Barpeta Medical College has conducted the first Caesarean section of a COVID positive pregnant lady. My sincere gratitude to the members of the team.”
Appreciating the doctors and others at Jorhat medical college, the minister in another tweet said, “Wearing PPE, our medical team in Jorhat medical college performed one ovarian cyst surgery and two Caesarean sections yesterday on COVID positive patients. My sincere appreciation.”
In another tweet posted at 10.20 pm on Monday, the minister further stated that altogether 1,362 COVID persons have been discharged from different hospitals across Assam on Monday.
“Discharge Alert: 1362 patients have been discharged today.
Happy to see rising numbers of discharged cases. Salute to the medical team.
