Kohima: While 45 persons tested positive for COVID-19 earlier on Monday, one more person has tested positive for the coronavirus, taking the state’s toll to 1,385. In total, 46 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the state on Monday.
Eight returnees, 23 armed forces personnel, four frontline workers and 11 persons through traced contacts tested positive on Monday. Out of the total of 1,385 positive cases, 858 are returnees, 431 are armed forces personnel, 48 are frontline workers and another 48 traced contacts.
Besides the 46 new cases, another 20 recovered cases were reported on Monday. The death toll soared to five. As reported by EastMojo on Sunday, an 82-year-old COVID-19 patient, who was admitted to the COVID-19 hospital in Dimapur with comorbid conditions, had passed away.
While Kiphire has not reported any single case of COVID-19, Wokha district also becomes a COVID-free district as the lone patient from the district recovered on Monday.
The COVID-19 status as on Monday is:
*All five deaths are reported from Dimapur and is yet to be established as due to COVID-19. Out of the five deaths, two were reported from Dimapur District Hospital, and one each from Dimapur Paid Quarantine center, Dimapur Nikos Hospital and Medzhiphema CHC in Dimapur.
As mentioned above, out of the 1,385 positive cases, 811 are active cases, 569 are recovered and there are 5 deaths which are under investigation for establishing whether they are COVID-19 related deaths.
As per the severity of symptoms for active cases, 808 active cases are asymptomatic and 2 active cases are mild and 1 active case is moderate. As per the gender based distribution, 1123 are male and 262 are female.
As per the age wise distribution of the total confirmed cases, 30 are between 0-17 years, 1232 between 18-44 years, 118 between 45-64 years, three between 65-74 years, and two above the age of 75.
Till date, a total of 21,642 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 20,307 samples have been received. Out of the total of 14,489 samples received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), a total of 13,154 samples have been tested and 904 samples have tested positive.
In addition, a total of 14,898 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat and 514 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. A total of 2,593 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.”
