Kohima: Nagaland recorded a new single-day highest spike in the state on Thursday with 90 more persons testing positive for COVID-19. The new cases were reported out of 237 samples that were sent for testing. Another 44 persons have recovered from COVID-19.
One frontline worker, 43 armed forces, 42 persons from the quarantine centres and four persons through traced contacts have tested positive. Out of the 43 armed forces who tested positive, 20 are from Kohima, 21 from Dimapur, and two from Peren. Of the 42 persons from the quarantine centres who tested positive for COVID-19, five are returnees and 37 are non-resident technical persons on duty.
As per the district wise distribution of the 90 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Thursday, 61 are from Kohima, 26 from Dimapur, two from Peren and one is from Phek.
With the addition of 90 new COVID-19 cases, the total number of confirmed cases in the state spiked to 1174. This is the highest single day spike in the state till date. The last 1-day highest spike was reported on July 13 when 71 persons had tested positive for COVID-19.
On Thursday, 44 more persons have recovered from COVID-19 increasing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 530. With that, the present recovery rate is at 45%.

As per the severity of symptoms out of 644 active cases, 640 persons are asymptomatic, two are mild symptomatic, one is moderate symptomatic and one is critical in the ICU on ventilator. Nagaland has so far not reported any COVID-19 related death.
As per the age wise distribution for the total confirmed cases, 24 are between 0-17 years, 1066 between 18-44 years, 81 between 45-64 years, two between 65-74 years and one above 75 years. As per the distribution by gender, 940 are male and 234 are female.
Till date, a total of 20,126 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 18,968 samples have been received and out of this, a total of 11,793 samples have been tested at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and 654 samples have tested positive.
In addition, a total of 13,497 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat. 12,766 samples have tested negative, and 428 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. A total of 2,821 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.
