Kohima: An updated information from the health and family welfare department on Wednesday evening notified that a total of 1,084 confirmed cases have been reported in the state so far, which means that a total of 54 new cases were reported on Wednesday.
As reported earlier, Nagaland health minister took to Twitter to inform that 57 new cases were reported on Wednesday morning out of which 23 are from Dimapur, 18 are from Kohima, seven from Zunheboto, five from Peren, and two each from Mon and Mokokchung districts.
Although the minister made no subsequent clarification on Twitter following the tweet, the health department told media persons that the actual number of new cases detected on Wednesday is 54 and not 57 as the results of five persons were repeat positive. This means that the five COVID-19 patients were re-tested as positive for COVID-19 and their names were already added to the COVID-19 confirmed case tally.
The health official said that out of the 54 new cases, 23 are from Dimapur, 19 are from Kohima, seven from Zunheboto, two each from Mon and Mokokchung districts, and one from Peren.
While 54 new cases were detected, one person also recovered on Wednesday. The COVID-19 status in the state as on Wednesday is:
As per the severity of symptoms, 594 active cases are asymptomatic, two active cases are mild, one active case is moderate and one active case is critical in ICU on ventilator.
An update from the DIPR said that the the critical case is an 82 year old male patient from Dimapur. The patient had tested positive by TrueNat and RTPCR on July 18 and was admitted in ICU, covid19 Hospital Dimapur the next day at 12:40 pm.
The patient was admitted from ICU, Eden Medical centre in Dimapur. The patient has comorbid conditions who is a diabetic with past history of open heart surgery and pulmonary tuberculosis. The patient was treated on JUly 16 at Shamrock Hospital and on July 17 at Nikos Hospital and Eden Medical Centre.
The patient has a typical covid lung picture with respiratory distress and is on ventilator support. The patient is critical with unstable blood pressure yet other vitals are maintained, it informed.
Treatment protocol is being followed for covid19 patient on ventilator and the patient is monitored by a medical team comprising of one doctor, two nurses and two attendants on eight hourly rotation basis, the MS Dimapur had informed. The MS Dimapur, Dr Kasheto also sought prayer support from one and all for speedy recovery of the patient.
Till date, a total of 19,833 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 18,749 samples have been received. Out of the 18,749 samples, a total of 11,793 samples have been tested at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and out of which 654 samples have tested positive.
In addition, a total of 13,058 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat. 12,334 samples have tested negative, and 413 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR, informed Pincipal Secretary Home Abhijit Sinha.
