Imphal: At least 90 more persons, including four non-returnees with local contact histories, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Tuesday, taking the total confirmed cases to 2,015.
According to the statement issued by additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, the number of active and recovered cases is 631 and 1,384, respectively, so far.
Of the latest fresh detected in the last 24 hours, 68 are male and 22 are female. They were tested positive at VRDLs of RIMS (26) and JNIMS (34), district hospitals of Jiribam (17), Thoubal (5) and Mobile Testing Team in Imphal West (8).
At least 25 cases each were reported from Kangpokpi and Thoubal, 17 from Jiribam, 12 from Imphal West, eight from Imphal East, two from Kakching and one case from Tengnoupal districts.
Meanwhile, another 64 persons have recovered and discharged from the hospitals and various COVID-19 Care Centers. With this, the recovery rate has increased to 68.68%.
As per the health official, till date, there is no evidence of community transmission in any part of the state. However, control of the pandemic is contingent on the complete adoption of various control guidelines and measures like social distancing, wearing of face mask and maintain hygiene, he said.
Also, avoidance of non-essential travel still stands very effective for prevention of COVID-19 spread in the state, added Dr Mangang.
