Imphal: Another 20 cases, including two persons from Thoubal and Imphal East districts with no travel history, reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,911.
Of these, 676 cases are active and 1,235 have recovered and sent home for another 14 days’ strict home quarantine.
According to additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, two non-returnees who tested positive are the family members of patients tested positive earlier.
The fresh cases, which include 14 male and six female, were detected for COVID-19 positive at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDLs) of RIMS (11) and JNIMS (4), and district hospitals of Tamenglong (3), Thoubal (1) and Mobile team in Imphal East (1).
The positive cases in the last 24 hours are from Imphal West (9), Tamenglong (3), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (2), Senapati (2) Bishnupur (1) and Ukhrul (1) districts.
According to Dr Mangang, the persons who tested positive are being shifted to COVID-19 Care facilities for further treatment.
Moreover, necessary measures like contact tracing and containment process are already in place as precautionary steps to contain from further spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate of COVID-19 positive has increased to 64.62% with another 53 persons testing negative for coronavirus.
In the last 24 hours, 14 persons were discharged from COVID-19 Care Center (CCC) of Meitram, RD Wing Lamphel (8), Churachandpur (8), Thoubal (2), Kakching (12) and COVID-19 Care Facility of JNIMS (9).
