New Delhi: Indian IT major HCL has said that the company’s co-founder Shiv Nadar has stepped down from the position of chairman of the Board of Directors and his position will now be filled by India’s richest woman Roshni Nadar Malhotra, who also happens to be Shiv Nadar’s daughter.
However, Shiv Nadar will still hold a key part in the company as a managing director with the designation of chief strategy officer. This has been put into effect on July 17.
Shiv said in a statement: “We are living in unprecedented times where organizations and people across geographies are dealing with challenges related to the pandemic. However, this has also pushed businesses to accept the pandemic as a catalyst for change and look at building agility and resilience into every level of their organization.”
Shiv Nadar’s daughter Roshni Nadar Malhotra is the wealthiest woman in India with a net worth of Rs 36,800 crore. According to Forbes, she is the 54th most powerful women in the world.
Roshni is married to Shikhar Malhotra who also is the executive director and member of board at HCL. He also holds the position sof vice chairman and CEO at HCL Healthcare.
She completed her higher studies at Northwestern University and also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Earlier, Roshni had played several roles in the organisation including executive director, vice-chairperson, CEO and also a trustee of Shiv Nadar Foundation.
In her initial days, she developed an interest for journalism and has also worked as an intern at CNBC and CNN.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra has also contributed through Shiv Nadar Foundation towards developing top class schools and institutes in India.
