The arrested person was handed over to the North Police Station in Kohima for further investigation

Kohima: An active cadre of the Myanmar-based banned militant outfit NSCN (K-YA) was held in Kohima by security forces. This is part of the ongoing crackdown on insurgent groups operating in the state.

An official update from PRO Defence Lt Col Sumit K Sharma on Friday morning said that the active NSCN (K-YA) cadre was apprehended near Perizie Colony in Kohima on Tuesday.

Based on specific intelligence regarding presence of UG cadre in the area, the security forces had launched an operation and apprehended the individual.

The recovered items

One Point 22mm Pistol, five rounds of Point 22mm live ammunition, extortion pad and extortion slips of NSCN/GPRN/K were recovered from the person arrested.

While the identity of the person was not disclosed, it informed that the arrested person, along with recovered items, were handed over to the North Police Station in Kohima for further investigation.
