Imphal: Manipur education minister Thokchom Radheshyam Singh on Friday announced the results of the Class XII state board examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM).
While announcing the results, minister Radheshyam said that in a major boost for the government schools in the state, two students of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, popularly known as TG Higher Secondary School, secured first positions in both Arts and Commerce streams.
Toppers Khomdram Shantibala Devi of Kwaikeithel Moirang purel Leikai scored 464 out of 500 marks in Arts stream and Justina Yendrembam of Kangla Siphai secured 448 out of 500 marks in Commerce stream.
In a significant manner, four students from the same school are also among the first top ten rank holders in Arts stream.
In Science stream, MECI Explorer Academy student Archana Hijam of Andro Maamng Leikai bagged the top position by scoring 485 out of 500 marks.
The overall pass percentage for all the streams is 86%, which is the highest in the last three years, it said.
Moreover, of the 29,144 students enrolled for the Class XII board examinations, 29,072 students appeared in the exam. Altogether, 25,002 students cleared the higher secondary exam this year.
Minister Radheshyam also stated that the improvement in this year’s Class XII exam result is an indication of the hard work put in by all concerns, including students, teachers, parents and staff of the education department.
While congratulating the successful candidates, the minister also lauded the teachers for their dedication during the evaluation of paper despite the ongoing pandemic lockdown.
