Kohima: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deputy chief minister Y Patton, health minister S Pangnyu Phom and other legislators will be undergoing self-quarantine as they returned to the state from New Delhi on Thursday.
As per reports, Rio had left for Delhi on Tuesday to meet with the Central leaders to discuss about the state-related issues, particularly in regard to the letter submitted by Nagaland governor RN Ravi to the chief minister which questioned the law and order situation in the state.
Taking to Twitter, Rio wrote: “As a precautionary measure, I’m on self-quarantine on my return to Nagaland from Delhi. Taking precautions to ensure safety of others & myself. Will continue discharging duties. Please follow official advisories/guidelines, wear mask, maintain social distancing & observe hygiene.”
Meanwhile, deputy chief minister Y Patton, who also visited Delhi along with few BJP legislators, including health minister S Pangnyu Phom and PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi, informed that they will all be undergoing institutional quarantine as per the protocol laid down by the state government.
Patton took to Twitter to inform that the legislators had tested negative for COVID-19. He also posted photographs where it can be seen that the trio were seated in an ambulance.
“My colleagues and I have reached Nagaland. While we tested negative for the virus in Delhi as well as in Nagaland, for the safety of everyone, we’ll be under Institutional Quarantine as per the existing #COVID__19 SOP in the State. Nevertheless, I’ll keep discharging my duties,” Patton tweeted.
Meanwhile, as per reports, the BJP leaders were summoned to Delhi by the Party’s central leaders following a rift within the state BJP unit, which is reported to have been resolved.
The other legislators who were in Delhi included minister Kashiho Sangtam, adviser Dr Longriniken. Minister Temjen Imna Along, who is the state BJP president, accompanied by adviser Mmhonlumo Kikon were also in Delhi. The legislators had reportedly traveled to Delhi on different dates.
