Assam health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressing media persons Guwahati

Guwahati: The state government has directed all private sector clinical establishments of the state to immediately install a TrueNat system, if deemed necessary, to further validate the Rapid Antigen Detection tests, prior to starting treatment, so that patients do not have to wait for treatment.

The decision has been taken as some private sector clinical establishments don’t have the RT-PCR COVID-19 testing facility which delays the COVID-19 of a person and therefore their medical treatment too.

Addressing media persons, Assam minister for health and family welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the state government has decided that fruits worth Rs 100 will be provided daily to all geriatric (65 years and above) and diabetic COVID-19 patients who are admitted in COVID-19 hospitals and COVID Care Centres in Assam.

The minister also said that the earlier system of institutional/hotel quarantine is dispensed with Kamrup (M) district, in case of air passengers from outside the state.

“If the Antigen Detection Test of a passenger turns out positive, he/she will be proceeded to COVID-hospital or Covid care Centres. If the test turns out to be negative, swab sample will be sent for RT-PCR COVID-19 test also, and he/she will be allowed to directly proceed for home quarantine of 14 days duration,” a notification said.

If any passenger prefers not to undergo home quarantine for various genuine reasons, the district administration will facilitate his/her quarantine in a hotel, subject to the condition that the individual will himself/herself finalize the rates of accommodation and food, and bear the expenditure.

“In case of air passengers who arrive at late hours, the district administration will make arrangements for hotel quarantine and bear the expenditure thereof for initial period of 36 hours, and therefore the person will have the option for home quarantine or continue to remain in hotel quarantine at his/her expense, for remaining period of 14 days,” the notification said.
