Guwahati: Assam has recorded two more flood related deaths, as per the Thursday morning flood reports by Assam State Disaster Management Authority. This takes the total flood related death toll to 68. The state recorded 7 deaths on Wednesday.
The Brahmaputra river in Neamatighat (Jorhat), Tezpur, Guwahati (Kamrup- Metro), Goalpara and Dhubri; Dhansiri at Numaligarh; Jia Bharali in Sonitpur; Kopili in Kampur and Dharamtul (Nagaon); Beki in Barpeta; Barak in Cachar; Kushiyara in Karimganj and Sankosh are flowing above the danger level.
According to ASDMA, the floods have affected over 36 lakh people in 26 districts. Taking the culumative impaact of floods from May 22 to Jul 15, over 48 lakh people have been impacted in 30 of the 33 districts in Assam. Meanwhile, the flood situation is likely to deteriorate with heavy rainfall in the next 72 hours in various parts of Assam.
Across state, 1,28,567 flood affected people are staying in 487 relief camps.
