Sachin Pilot clarified that some leaders in Rajasthan are trying to fuel speculation that he is joining BJP, but he is not switching sides to the saffron party
New Delhi: Amid the political turmoil in Rajasthan, sacked deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot has clarified that he is not switching from Congress to BJP.
According to media reports, Pilot said he has worked very hard to bring the Congress back in power in Rajasthan. He said, "I am not joining BJP. Some leaders in Rajasthan trying to fuel speculation that I am joining BJP but I am not doing so."
The Congress on Tuesday announced that Pilot has been removed as Rajasthan deputy CM and PCC chief. This comes after Pilot and 18 loyalist MLAs stayed away from the CLP meeting in Jaipur. Following which, a notice has been issued to them and they've been asked to respond by Friday.
The political crisis unfolded last Friday when Rajasthan Police sent a notice to Pilot, asking him to record his statement over the alleged bid to bring down the government. The same notice was also sent to the CM and some other MLAs, but Pilot's supporters claimed that it was only meant to humiliate him. Pilot has been upset ever since 2018 Assembly elections, when he was not considered for the position of chief minister.
