New Delhi: India’s biggest business tycoon Mukesh Ambani has surpassed American investor Warren Buffet in the list of world’s richest people.
2020 seems like the year for Reliance Industries Ltd’s Chairman. Ambani is now worth $68.3 billion, eclipsing Buffett who is valued at $67.9 billion as of Thursday, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The eight richest man in the world, followed by Buffet at the 9th place.
Ambani is the only Asian to feature in the list of world’s top 10 richest people. His company got significant thrust this year after make a string of deals as it digital unit got more than $15 billion in investments from companies including Facebook Inc. and Silver Lake. This week BP Plc paid $1 billion for a stake in Reliance’s fuel-retail business.
This comes after Buffet donated $2.9 billion in Berkshire Hathaway stock to charity earlier this week. The 89-year-old has given away more than $37 billion of Berkshire shares since 2006, reducing his fortunes.
Not just Ambani, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla Inc too is now richer than Buffet with $70.5 billion fortune.
