Part of Nyingchi, which is Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh, is currently controlled by India, as part of Arunachal Pradesh. Nyingchi is in the northeastern side of Mechuka.

Sources in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) confirmed that Techi Hemi is from Hemi village, the last village in Monigong area of Mechuka district in Arunachal Pradesh near China.
Member of Parliament, Eastern Arunachal, Tapir Gao, who has been vocal about Chinese intrusions, said that Monigong area is inhabited by Bokar, a sub-tribe of Adi.
“Not only these two individuals, but most of the villagers visit that side of China (shown in the video) because Bokars also live there,” said Gao.
“It takes two or three days to reach this place as only one mountain is in between Indian Bokar village and Chinese Bokar village,” he added.
