WATCH | How 2 Arunachal locals entered Tibet through ‘India-China border’

Itanagar: A video surfaced on Friday morning on social media in which two individuals from Arunachal Pradesh — identified as Techi Hemi and his companion — were seen on the Chinese side (Tibet) of the international border.

In the video, Hemi’s friend is seen explaining about the place and expressing profound happiness to have ‘reached China’.

The place behind Techi Hemi is Nyingchi, also known as Linzhi, which is a city in southeast of China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. The administrative seat of Nyingchi is Bayi district. Part of Nyingchi, which is Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh, is currently controlled by India, as part of Arunachal Pradesh. Nyingchi is in the northeastern side of Mechuka.

A river is also seen in the video, which is Yarlung Tsangpo, also known as Bramhaputra in India.

After the video went viral, EastMojo did a fact-check to know more about the duo and how they managed to enter the Chinese side from India.

Sources in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) confirmed that Techi Hemi is from Hemi village, the last village in Monigong area of Mechuka district in Arunachal Pradesh near China.

Member of Parliament, Eastern Arunachal, Tapir Gao, who has been vocal about Chinese intrusions, said that Monigong area is inhabited by Bokar, a sub-tribe of Adi.

“Not only these two individuals, but most of the villagers visit that side of China (shown in the video) because Bokars also live there,” said Gao.

“It takes two or three days to reach this place as only one mountain is in between Indian Bokar village and Chinese Bokar village,” he added.
