The NSCN-IM, through its mouthpiece Nagalim Voice, a monthly news bulletin, lashed out at Nagaland governor RN Ravi, who is also the interlocutor for Naga Peace talks. Following the governor’s recent letter, the group questioned if the central government has assigned a “wrong person” to solve the ongoing Naga political issue.
“Ravi’s bombshell is a reflection of his mishandling of Naga political issue. It speaks of his frustration and arrogance. It speaks of his insincerity and deceitfulness,” the editorial note from its June edition read.
The group said that it also shows the interlocutor’s “inclination to turn the clock back” by using terms such as “armed gangs” to refer to the groups that he had been talking with at the negotiating table. The NSCN-IM also said that the governor’s assessment on the scenario in the state is grim and that law and order has collapsed “finds no taker as it is not supported by ground reality”.
“For all-purpose, Ravi is undoing his credibility as Interlocutor to Indo-Naga political talks. There is a trust deficit on his role as interlocutor as he is desperately on the roll to undermine the Naga issue,” it said.
However, the “biggest question” which the NSCN_IM claimed as “pricking the mind of the Nagas” is if Prime Minister Narendra Modi has “planted a wrong person to help him solve the long-standing Indo-Naga political issue”.
“But one cannot forget that Naga issue involves blood, sweat and tears of not only Nagas but of Indians as well. It is the call of the Nagas that Ravi should settle down to prove himself his commitment to focus on Naga political solution and not resort to mischief,” it added.
