Meghalaya HSSLC exams: St Anthony's students sweep toppers' list

Shillong: Sweeping the positions in the merit list of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations 2020, Shillong’s St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School has once again come out with flying colours after the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) declared the exam results on Thursday.

Komal Sharma and Kaustab Choudhury — both from from St Anthony’s — emerged as toppers in commerce and science streams, respectively. While Komal secured 445, Kaustab got 468 marks.

Vinod Prajapat, who secured 2nd rank from commerce stream, secured 444, missing the first rank by a difference of 1 mark. Anirban Das, the second topper in science, secured 447 marks. Both Vinod and Anirban are also from St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School.

Under the Science stream, 3,566 candidates, both regular and non-regular, appeared. Out of these, 2,576 students were declared successful resulting in a pass percentage of 72.24%. This pass percentage is a slight improvement over last year’s 71.07%.

There were 70 institutions who had sent their students to appear for HSSLC 2020 Examinations for Science. The maximum number of students who appeared were from East Khasi Hills (1,904) while the minimum were from South Garo Hills (10). Under the Science Stream, 905 secured first division, 1,467 secured second and 51 secured third division.

Meanwhile, under the Commerce stream, 2,179 students (both regular and non-regular) appeared for the examination, out of which, 1,684 were declared successful resulting in a pass percentage of 77.28%. This year, the pass percentage is lower than last year’s 79.24%.

Under the Commerce stream 632 secured first division, 797 secured second and 113 secured third division.

The maximum students who appeared in the examination were from East Khasi Hills (1,442) while the minimum were from South West Khasi Hills (48). There were no students from South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills. This year, 58 institutions had sent their students to appear for the examination.
