Manipur: Jiribam gets Rapid Antigen Detection Testing Centre for COVID-19

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday various projects, including Rapid Antigen Detection Testing Centre, five water supply projects and one office building of weight and measures department through video conferencing in Imphal.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Biren Singh said that with the inauguration of Rapid Antigen Detection Centre in Jiribam, it will help in early detection of coronavirus infection and quick diagnosis.

He further said that the testing facilities will also be made available to other districts of the state very soon. Around 15,000 rapid testing kits have been supplied to the state government till now, he added.

Regarding the opening of Covid Care Centre at Jiribam district, Singh stated that the government has not taken any decision to convert the Jiribam district hospital into COVID-19 Care Centre. However, the government is planning to open a COVID-19 Care Centre in Jiribam district, so that the coronavirus infected patients can be treated at the district itself.

Singh informed that with a strong commitment, the government could complete various developmental projects in the state. With the co-operation and support of the people, such projects have been inaugurated within a stipulated time period.

The chief minister also said that the New Development Bank has sanctioned Rs 3,000 crore to provide potable water to every household of the state. All the necessary processes including tenders, issue of work order etc. have been completed and the state government has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the foundation stone laying ceremony which will be held shortly, he added. He appealed the CSOs, people and others concerned not to create any hindrances in the developmental activities being taken up in the state.

Mentioning about the situation of COVID-19 in the state, Singh said that the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients has reached more than 53% and there is no casualty so far in the state.

He mentioned that people should take all precautionary measures to fight the disease and should abide to all the protocols and SOPs issued by health ministry and government.
