Imphal: Sixty-three youths, including 23 women, were among the 530 youths from Northeast India who were successfully inducted into Delhi Police on Tuesday. The passing out parade was held in Delhi with certain measures maintaining social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, Delhi Police has total number of 1,090 police personnel at various levels from Northeast region as part of the implementation of Bezbaruah Committee with recommendation of the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA). They will now be posted in various parts of the national capital as Delhi Police personnel.
Speaking with EastMojo, D Kavisou from Senapati district, who was one of the new recruits, expressed his happiness as he finally fulfilled his childhood dream to be part of the security forces.
However, the 25-year-old youth informed that he will continue to work hard and sit for more exams for better positions and serve the society.
“Human wants are unlimited and I feel that I should not stop with this achievement but I will continue to work hard for better ranks and position,” said Kavisou.
The youngest among the four siblings, Kavisou was working as a teacher at Mount Carmel School in Senapati district soon after he completed his graduation from Maram Don Bosco College in 2016. However, in 2019, he sat for the Delhi Police exam under the Northeast recruitment cell and cleared the prestigious exam.
“Due to financial constraints in the family, I was not able to take tuitions for competitive exams but somehow I managed my time apart teaching and that’s how I could pass the written exam,” added Kavisou.
Apart from written exam, they were also gone through physical and medical tests which, Kavisou opined, was harder since it requires one to be physically and mentally fit.
Of the total 530 newly recruits, there were 355 men and 175 women from the Northeast region. According to reports, there were equal representatives from the eight states of Northeast region in Delhi Police.
Meanwhile, Union minister of state for sports and youth affairs Kiren Rijju tweeted, “Congratulations to all the newly recruited Delhi Police constables including 530 from NE states who have passed.”
“Now we have about 1090 Delhi police personnel at various level in Dehi police from North Eastern states,” he added.
