The reduction in syllabus is only for academic year 2020-21

New Delhi: Considering loss of academic amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Central Board of Secondary EDucation (CBSE) on Tuesday announced to reduce syllabus for Class IX to XII by 30% for the year 2020-21.

Union minister for Human resources Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishanl tweeted, “Looking at the extraordinary situation prevailing in the country and the world, #CBSE was advised to revise the curriculum and reduce course load for the students of Class 9th to 12th.”

“Considering the importance of learning achievement, it has been decided to rationalize syllabus up to 30% by retaining the core concepts,” he added.

Pokriyal also said that 1,500 suggestions were received from educationists on the syllabus reduction, which eventually helped the government to come to this conclusion.

The reduced syllabus maybe explained to the students to the extent required to connect different topics, however, the will not be part of the topics for internal assessment and year-end board examinations.
