Kohima: Kohima Police have apprehended five cadres of NSCN (IM) from Tseminyu on charges of extortion and illegal possession of arms on Saturday last.
Informing this, Kohima Police PRO said that the arrested persons have been identified as self styled (SS) captain Tenyenseng Seb (51 yrs), SS second lieutenant Somingam Shang (32 yrs), SS Private Somirin Tangkhul (21 yrs), SS captain Bopai Konyak (34 yrs) and (5) SS sergeant major Nagawangbou Wijunamai (29 yrs).
The Police PRO informed that 84 extortion slips two .32 pistol, 10 rounds of .32 live ammunition, five mobile phones, five pairs of camouflage uniform, two combat bags, a Maruti Gypsy bearing the registration number NL03-1769 along with ignition key and documents, three pen drives and a cheque book were recovered and seized from their possession.
A case vide Tseminyu PS Case No. 0008/2020 has also been registered against the arrested accused persons.

Earlier, the Kohima police also arrested one hardcore extortionist who was absconding in connection with Kohima North PS case no. 0018/2020 from para-medical area Kohima on Saturday night.
The accused has been identified as Khosato Keyho alias Kenny (25 yrs) and has been remanded into police custody for further investigation. It informed that the accused is a habitual offender and was earlier arrested in connection with Kohima North PS case No. 0049/2017 and Kohima South PS case No. 0006/2018.

On June 29, based on an FIR lodged at North PS Kohima by Chiechamiapfü Mechü Krotho (CMK) against Richard Humtsoe (45 years) for his post in the social media, the police arrested the accused from Peducha under Lalmati police post) on June 3 night. In this connection, a case vide Kohima North P.S Case No. 0024/2020 has also been registered against the accused.
