Shillong: An eight-month-old baby boy succumbed to COVID-19, becoming the youngest victim in the state.
Meghalaya Director of Health Services, Dr Aman War confirmed that the child passed away on Monday at NEIGRIHMS hospital. He informed the media that the baby was from Arunachal Pradesh. The parents, along with an attendant, had accompanied the child. The attendant tested negative for COVID-19, unfortunately the child passed away.
Dr War said that the child was critical and referred from Arunachal Pradesh to NEIGRIHMS hospital.
The baby is the second fatality in the state. Dr Sailo, a renowned doctor, was the first fatality case recorded in Meghalaya. He passed away on April 15, 2020 due to COVID-19.
The total tally of COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 89 out of which 44 are active cases, 43 recovered and 2 deaths.
