Total active cases spiked to 335

Kohima: One more person from Mon district tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday evening, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 563.

Earlier on Saturday morning, 23 persons — 21 from Peren and two from Kohima — tested positive for COVID-19. In total, 24 new cases of COVID-19 were detected on Saturday. The number of active cases now stands at 335.

Taking to Twitter, health minister S Pangnyu Phom informed that one sample was tested as positive out of 15 samples that were sent for testing. “Update! Out of 15 samples tested. One new case of COVID-19 positive has been confirmed from Mon,” he wrote.

With no new recovered cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the recovery rate stands at 40% with as 228 recovered cases.

Principal secretary home Abhijit Sinha informed that all positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals. As per the severity of symptoms, all the 335 active cases are asymptomatic.

Sinha also informed that a total of 6858 samples have been tested by Truenat, out of which 166 samples tested positive and sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. 6469 samples have tested negative and result of 223 samples are awaited.

A total of 13,014 samples have been sent for testing by RT-PCR. Results of 12,628 samples have been received.

Out of the total of 13,014 samples sent, 8,344 samples have been tested at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), and 447 samples have tested positive. Further at BSL-2 lab at CIHSR, Dimapur, 511 samples have been tested, out of which 2 have tested positive.

In addition a total of 6,858 samples have been tested by Truenat, out of which 166 samples have been tested positive and sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. Further, 6,469 samples have tested negative, he informed.

A total of 4,062 persons are currently under facility quarantine and a total of 13,277 persons are out of institutional quarantine.
