Shillong: The active, positive COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya on Saturday have now risen to 22, taking the total positive cases to 66.
4 new cases recorded from Ri-Bhoi district, they are marked as high-risk contacts of a COVID-19 patient who is currently in Assam.
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma tweeted, “4 persons who were high-risk contacts of a COVID19 patient who is presently in Assam have tested positive for the same in Ri Bhoi District.”
Due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the neighbouring state of Assam, the government on Friday had decided to impose curfew in the border areas of Ri-Bhoi.
The areas under curfew are from Tandu Bridge via Byrnihat to Jorabat, Pillangkata, Maikhuli, Iongkhuli and Umtyrnga with effect from Friday, and till further orders.The order is not applicable to security forces, medical teams on duty, wholesale and retail pharmacies, police and armed forces, among others.
