2 more persons tested COVID-19 positive in Mizoram on Friday

Aizawl: Two persons, including a returnee from outside the state, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking Mizoram’s total COVID-19 tally to 162.

The two patients, including a female, are from Aizawl and Champhai districts. The patients, aged 55 and 56, are out of danger, sources say.

At least 140 samples were tested on Thursday at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) and Lunglei civil hospital and 138 of them came out as negative, sources added.

Sources said that a 57-year-old man, who tested positive for novel coronavirus on June 12, was discharged from ZMC on Friday. He is a bus conductor, who used to transport stranded people from Bairabi railway station on the Mizoram-Assam border.

There are 35 active cases in the state while 127 people have recovered.

Meanwhile, the state government has sanctioned over Rs 2 crore from Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) for the purchase of 10 Trunenat machines.
