Guwahati: Assam recorded its 12th COVID-19-related death on Tuesday afternoon as a 50-year-old person was tested positive for the virus after his death.
Dilip Talukdar, a resident of Guwahati’s Fatasil Ambari area, was brought dead to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on June 22, he was tested for the virus and subsequently found positive.
Assam health and family welfare minister Dr Himanata Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to inform about the development.
He wrote, “I am sad to inform that 50-yr-old Mr Dilip Talukdar of Fatasil Ambari, Guwahati was brought dead to GMCH on June 22. Subsequently, he was tested positive for #COVID19. With this our death toll goes up to 12.
My heartfelt condolences to the Talukdar family. Prayers.”
Areas under Kamrup (M) district are currently on the second day of a stringent 14 days total lockdown in the view of rise in number of COVID-19 positive cases without any travel history.
Kamrup (metro) district has so far reported 1,284 cases of COVID-19, against Assam’s total figure of 7,836 cases, including the recent death.
