Imphal: A total of 42 persons, all returnees from other states, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Monday, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,227.
Also, another 39 persons — 12 from Pherzawl, 11 from Senapati, seven from Tamenglong, three from Churachandpur, two from Kangpokpi and one each from Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Noney and Ukhrul districts — were discharged from COVID-19 care faculties after they tested negative on RT-PCR test.
With this, the total number of recovered patients has now increased to 494 and active cases at 733.

According to additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, the recovery rate in Manipur is now 40.26%.
Among the latest fresh cases, which included 24 men and 18 women, Kangpokpi recorded the highest with 33 persons testing positive, followed by Ukhrul with five cases and Kamjong and Senapati districts with two cases each.
They are now being shifted to the COVID-19 care facilities for further observation.
