Itanagar: Two girls reportedly died of suicide in two separate cases in the capital complex of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.
While one of them — a 22-year-old — was found dead in Dath Village under Jollang area, the other — a 16-year-old— was found dead in room number 102 at Hotel Capital Lodge in Naharlgun under Papumpare district.
The deceased from Jollang area was the wife of Kodhak Dasi, a resident of Dadi village in Daporijo under Upper Subansiri district. She was found dead in a rented house in Jollang, said Superintendent of Police, Capital complex, Tumme Amo.
Later, on receipt of a written FIR from Kodhak Dasi, a UD case vide ITA PS UD C/No-14/2020 u/s 174 CrPC was registered and the case has been taken over by sub-inspector S K Singh for further investigation, the SP said.
“On Saturday, another FIR was received from Tamar Ekke of Gohpur, Itanagar that at around 9 pm his younger sister had committed suicide at Hotel Capital Lodge room no. 102, Naharlgun… In the FIR, the complainant alleged that deceased was in physical relation with a boy (partner). The complainant also said that his sister was physically assaulted by her boyfriend,” Amo said.
“On receipt of the FIR, Naharlagun Police station UD case no. 13/20 u/s 174 CrPC registered. Further investigation is being done as to sexual relationship between the two amounting to legal rape, etc, and necessary action will be taken accordingly as per PME report & other evidences,” informed the SP.
Post-mortem of both the bodies was conducted on Sunday at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun. Afterwards, the bodies were handed over to the respective families for conducting last rite as per their tradition. The cases are under investigation as the till now the reason behind both have been suicide, said Amo.
