Four suspected gang members of a Rohingya group who were allegedly involved in kidnapping and ransom were killed in a shootout with police in Bangladesh.

The gunfight between the gang members and the police took place when a team of police officials were searching for the gang leader in a forest near one of the Rohingya camps at Cox’s Bazar, informed police Inspector Pradeep Kumar Das.

According to inspector Morzina Akhter, who was on the spot, the suspects open fired at the police leading to a gunfight that led to the death of 4 suspected gang members. The police also recovered 40,000 tablets of contraband and locally made guns from their possession.

According to reports, the deceased belonged to a gang led by Abdul Hakim. They are accused of being involved in kidnapping, ransom and murder.
