Imphal: Four National People’s Party (NPP) MLAs who had withdrawn support to N Biren Singh-led coalition government in Manipur have reportedly left for Delhi along with Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday to meet BJP Central leaders.
The four legislators of NPP, including former deputy chief minister Y Joykumar Singh are likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah say sources.
As per reports, Sarma, who is also the convener of North-East Democratic Alliance or NEDA, arrived in the state capital Imphal on Tuesday, the second visit in the state after a political crisis erupted Manipur.
On Monday, Sarma had promised to resolve the crisis in Manipur within three days. He said that there would be an ‘architectural change’ in the government. However, he did not elaborate on whether the change will be in leadership or reshuffling of portfolios.

The latest development shows a willingness on the part of both parties to iron out the differences and save the current government in Manipur.
However, earlier speaking with EastMojo, NPP Manipur unit chief Thangminlien Kipgen said that they wouldn’t change their decision to withdraw support to the N Biren Singh-led coalition government in Manipur.
The NPP leader earlier had also accused the government headed by N Biren Singh of functioning in an autocratic and undemocratic manner rather than building confidence among the coalition partners.
Following a recent fallout in Manipur after nine legislators, including three BJP MLAs resigned from the party, NPP announced that they would cease supporting to the BJP-led government. The NPP has joined hands with Opposition Congress under the Secular Progressive Front (SPF).
The NPP legislators are said to have left the Okram Ibobi Singh camp for now after a call to meet central BJP leaders. Chances of Congress comeback in Manipur seems bleak at this point.
