46 more returnees tested COVID-19 positive in Manipur, total tally now 681

Imphal: Another 46 persons, including 41 male, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Friday. The new cases are in addition to the 29 earlier detected from a single community quarantine centre in Tamenglong district.

Now, the total number of positive cases for COVID-19 in the state has soared to 681, including 463 active cases.

According to additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, 19 more patients — 14 from COVID-19 care facility at JNIMS and five from RIMS, have recovered and were discharged from the hospitals after they were found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR test.

The total number of recovered patients has now increased to 218, with the recovery rate in the state standing at 32.01%, he said.

Of the latest 46 cases, 30 are from Ukhrul, seven from Senapati, four from Churachandpur, three from Chandel and two are from Kamjong districts. All are returnees from other states and they are now being shifted at COVID-19 care facilities in Imphal for observation.

The newly functional COVID-19 Care Centre at UNACCO School at Meitram has increased its bedding capacity to 297.

A total of 210 asymptomatic cases are being kept at various COVID-19 Care facilities- 167 are undergoing treatment at UNACCO School, 33 are at Bishnupur district hospital and 10 are at Ukhrul district hospital.
