Guwahati: Kamrup (Metropolitan) district in Assam has 26 active containment zones of total 46 such notified zones in the district as on Wednesday, June 10.
As per the latest update from the office of Chief Executive Officer, DDMA, Kamrup Metro, ever since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Kamrup (metropolitan) district of Assam and Spanish Garden was notified as the first containment zone in Guwahati city on April 4, total 46 area were declared containment zones due to detection of cOVID-19 cases.
Subsequently, when no new cases of coronavirus were detected from 20 such notified places, the tag of containment zone was withdrawn. Enabling ease in movement and resumption of economic activities in those areas.
Currently 26 areas, notified as containment zone from May 30 onwards continue to remain sealed with restrictions on movement of individual and vehicles. Only essential services are allowed in these places.
The notifies active containment zones are: Pandu railway New Colony; Betkuchi; Japorigog; Borbari; Bishnupur, Krishna Nagar; Dhirenpara; Pub-Sarania; Bathou Nagar, Geeta Mandir; Krishna Nagar, Gosala; Central Jail Premises, Lokhra; Indrapur Hill Top, near Medical College; Lichubagan, Hengerabari; Arihant Apartment, Panbazar; Syamkunj Apartment, Lakhinagar, RG Baruah Road; Hajongbori village, Chandrapur; Bhaskar Nagar, B-block, Fatasil; Sarbbhati; Athgaon; Hirapara village (Azara); Christian Basti, Guwahati; Bishnupur (Bharalumukh); Shantipur; Satgaon; Sankar Nagar, Lalganesh; Dhirenpara; Athgaon-II (SJ Road).
Further, in Arihant Apartment, Panbazar, containment zone notification has been extended for another 7 days, effective from Thursday morning. An order from Kamrup (M) DC said, “…considering further detection of more persons with COVID-19 positive in the area, in the interest of containment of further spread of cOVID-19 in the area, all shops and business establishments located on the Colonel J Ali road from City Pharmacy point to Railgate no. 2 at Lakhtokia are barred from operating for the next 7 days…”
As per notification from the Minitry of Home Affairs regarding lockdown 5.0, the lockdown is extended till June 30 in all containment zones. All relaxations and phases of Unlock 1 are not applicable in such areas.
So far, Assam has reported 3,319 cases of which 2061 are active, 1249 discharged, 6 deaths and 3 migrated to other states.
