Tinsukia: The district administration of Dibrugarh declared two more containment zones in this upper Assam district after one person among those tested positive in last 24 hours turned out to be a field case having no travel and contact history and another a home quarantine returnee.
In last 24 hours, eight persons tested positive for Covid-19. Six of them were returnees at quarantine centre, a home quarantine returnee and a field case.
According to sources, seven persons including a driver tested positive on Saturday night. “The driver used to ply private vehicle carrying laboratory technician who were collecting swab samples.”
Confirming the first non-quarantine case in Dibrugarh, deputy commissioner of Dibrugarh Pallav Gopal Jha said, investigation and contact tracing is underway.
In an order dated June 6, Jha said, in view of detection of one COVID-19 positive case at Kerosene Oil Depot Gali, opposite Barbaruah Puja Field under Barbaruah police station, it is felt necessary to immediately seal Kerosene Oil Depot Gali in Barbaruah for containment of the spread of COVID – 19 in the interest of public health.
“Hence a containment zone and buffer zone are notified with house of Sobir Alom in Barbaruah as epicentre and containment zone with boundary – pond in the north, house of Riyaz Ali in the east, house of Bishnu Majhi in the south and public road in the west. The Kerosene Oil Depot Gali is the buffer zone,” the order read.
On Sunday, a person who returned from Delhi on June 2 by flight tested positive. The person, residing at KC Gogoi Path, was in home quarantine, sources said.
According to sources, another containment zone was declared shortly after the development.
“In view of detection of one COVID-19 positive case at KC Gogol Path in Dibrugarh town, it is felt necessary to immediately seal the house of Kripal Kaur in KC Gogoi Path in the town for containment of the spread of COVID -19 in the interest of public health,” added a source.
Source said, the containment zone order notifies house of Kripal Kaur at KC Gogoi Path as epicentre and house including the entire premises of Kripal Kaur at KC Gogoi Path as the containment zone having boundaries in North – KC Gogoi Path, 10th Assam Battalion NCC Office (to the front), in East – barber shop of Mohan Lal; pan shop of Indrajit Dutta (to the Right), in South – railway track (to the back) and in the West – Bani Gogoi House, UBI ATM (to the left).
