Dimapur: With COVID-19 cases increasing across the country, a musician from Nagaland has come out with a cheap and portable ventilator that can be used in times of emergency.

Moments after the music artiste, Clement Imsong, shared a video of his innovative product on Instagram, users showered him with compliments.

Speaking with EastMojo over telephone, Imsong explained that the ventilator was made out of things that were available at his garage. “The cost of the ventilator is very minimal and it can be mass produced,” said the vocalist of Lords of Rock.

According to Imsong, he even took the portable mechanical ventilator to Eden Hospital in Dimapur and showed it to three anaesthesiologists, who said that the ventilator would work. “The experts said that the machine still has room for improvement, but it will work,” he added.

When asked about what motivated him to create the ventilator, Imsong said: “I made this keeping in mind the reality of the Northeast region and particularly Nagaland, where we have a shortage of ventilators. I wanted to do something to enhance the availability of ventilators during this desperate time.”

The machine can be mass-produced as I have a small production line in Guwahati, but I would like to hear from any interested party who would be willing to invest on its mass production, Imsong added.
