Guwahati: A revised schedule of examinations/ recruitment tests was issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on its official website on Friday.
As per the notification, the UPSC Civil Services (Prelims) will be conducted on October 4 and the Civil Services (Mains) examinations will commence from January 8, 2021. Along with the UPSC Civil Service examination and Mains, Indian Forest Service (Prelims) will also start from February 28, 2021.
The UPSC Personality tests for Civil Services Mains Examinations 2019 for the remaining candidates will start from July 20. Candidates should log in to the official website to check the revised schedule online and an e-admit card can also be downloaded from the website which will be issued before the examination.
There are three stages in the Civil Services Examinations – Prelims, Mains and interview via which officers are selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others. The commission announced at least 796 vacancies which will be filled through the examinations.
The examination which was supposed to be held on May 31 was deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UPSC then decided to defer the examinations on May 4, after Lockdown 2.0, the second phase of nationwide lockdown.
Additionally, this year, there will be just one entrance exam for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. UPSC notified that a common examination for both NDA and NA Exam (I) and NDA and NA Exam (II) will be held on September 6, 2020. The board will also release another notification with regards to the NA and NDA examinations on June 10 and the application portal will be active till June 30.
Statistical Service Exam/ Indian Economic Service Exam will start from October 16 and UPSC will release the notification for ISS and IES 2020 examinations next week.
