Agartala: Amid lockdown, Tripura police arrested at least 4,751 people and booked 41 others for violating the lockdown protocols across the state, informed a senior official.
Taking to Twitter, Tripura police shared the detailed statistics, which was later retweeted by chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
The Tripura police also slapped fined of Rs 100 on over 3,900 persons for not wearing masks in public places as announced by the state government.
Earlier, CM Deb had announced that anyone found not wearing a mask would be fined Rs 100 in the first offence and Rs 200 for the subsequent offences.
A senior police official also informed that the police volunteers stitched and distributed around 41,174 face masks among the staff and public, distributed 45,374 cooked food packets to public and also provided dry ration free of cost to 15,263 persons so far across the state.
For those living in the fur-flung areas, the police reached out to around 413 interior habitations to supply drinking water among the villagers. They also distributed medicine in around 44 remote villages so far.
The Tripura policehave also screened 29,034 vehicles along Assam-Tripura and Tripura-Mizoram borders so far, while 192 black marketers were booked by the police.
The detail sheet also informed that the Tripura police resolved 7,973 public calls for information and assistance, visited 28,008 people who were placed under home quarantine and assisted 1,870 senior citizens.
The police officials have also traced 13,466 persons, many of whom even tested positive for COVID-19 later on.
In another tweet, CM Deb informed that Tripura is conducting the highest number of tests per million with 7,783, followed by Assam with 6,350, which is the highest in the Northeast region.
“We are conducting maximum number of #COVID-19 tests in Tripura to keep everyone safe and secure. I salute our #CoronaWarriors who are working tirelessly round the clock to make the State COVID-19 free. I am confident soon we shall overcome this Pandemic,” Deb tweeted.
Currently, Tripura has 470 active COVID-19 cases, most of whom are being treated at COVID care centre and some are in COVID-19 hospital at GB Pant hospital, while 173 of them have been discharged after recovery.
A total of 35,844 persons were placed under surveillance, of which 22,506 persons were released after completion of 14 days’ observation period. While there are 681 persons in facility quarantine, 12,657 persons are in home quarantine as on Thursday.
