KOKRAJHAR: Soon after visiting the facilities relating to COVID-19, including the condition of the quarantine centre in Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) areas, Assam minister for health and family welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma said that more quarantine facilities will be prepared in the area in days to come.
Attending a review meeting with other senior officers of the district to know the preparedness of the district administration to tackle the pandemic, the minister also asked the authorities concerned to take stern measures to combat the Coronavirus in the district and urged all sections of citizens to maintain strict social distancing.
“We used Kokrajhar as first screening zonal centre in the state and a large number of people took shelter in the Kokrajhar quarantine centre,” the minister Sarma said.
He also announced that the state government is planning to construct more quarantine facilities in the district looking at its increasing demand in the district.
Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, DC Bhaskar Phukan, BTAD (IGP) Anurag Agarwal, SP Rakesh Roushan, senior officials from health department, MLAs Rabiram Narzary, Majendra Narzary were also took part in the meeting.
