Guwahati: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought out a lot of things that we were missing out on — for instance, the need keep oneself fit, both mentally and physically. Now, the police department in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district is reiterating that fact by giving some fitness tips to inmates of a quarantine centre. A video of one such fitness session is winning hearts on Twitter.

A video shared by the Dibrugarh Police’s official Twitter handle shows 27 inmates of a quarantine centre at Sreebangur High School in Tingkhong following home guard JR Sensuwa, as he trains them with some basic jumping-jack exercises.

Just because one is in quarantine does not mean that he or she can let go of their fitness regime. “Humanity is hope amid despair and resilience amid setbacks,” the police department tweeted along with the video, as it tried to bring in an iota of “normalcy” in the life of the 27 quarantined individuals.

However, keeping the norms in mind, each of the quarantined individual along with the police personnel are seen maintaining a good amount of distance from each other, besides wearing masks and other personal protective equipment.

A month ago, Nagaon police shared a video that showcased police personnel from district swaying their hips to Bihu music of dhol and pepa. It was 9:31 pm, but the police personnel were still working extra hours. With their frayed nerves, they deserved a much-needed break.

In the recent video by Dibrugarh Police, Twitterati spared no thought to share their opinion. “Morale is the best vaccine. Our police force takes it from higher to the highest,” replied a Twitter user.

With rising cases of people escaping quarantine facilities, be it due to the fear of further infection or due to the dreadful condition of the quarantine facilities, videos like these can be a big morale booster.
