More than 150 healthcare personnel have recovered since February and have joined back their normal duties

New Delhi: At least 11 healthcare workers, including two doctors, tested COVID-19 positive at AIIMS in Delhi on Friday, taking the total number of cases among the hospital staff to 206.

Since February this year, 206 healthcare workers of AIIMS, including 10 doctors, two faculty, nine technicians, 26 nurses, 49 hospital attendants, five mess workers, 69 security guards and 34 sanitation workers, have been infected by novel coronavirus, as per reports by AIIMS.

AIIMS medical superintendent Dr DK Sharma while speaking to the media said that more than 150 healthcare personnel have recovered since then and have joined back their normal duties, “We are taking all precautionary and safety measures for our healthcare workers at the institute. The moment any healthcare worker tests positive, we immediately isolate him or her and initiate the process of contact tracing,” said Dr Sharma.

According to reports from various media outlets, samples of at least 11 healthcare workers tested positive till Friday morning, while 30 were found infected till Thursday morning and 23 were found infected till Wednesday morning.

“Healthcare workers and ancillary staff testing positive are both from COVID and non-COVID areas of the hospital. Employees from all kinds of departments like engineering, laboratories, offices, canteens, operation theaters and wards among others have contracted the infection,” Dr Sharma said.
