Shillong: In a review meeting held under the chairmanship of Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday, the government decided not to open Iewduh Market.
The decision was made after a consultative meeting was held with ministers, chief executive member of KHADC, Titosstarwell Chyne; acting Syiem of Mylliem, Ainam Syiem; deputy commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Matsiewdor War; SPs and other officials.
Keeping in mind all safety aspects, a decision was made not to open Iewduh for the time being.
However, further relaxations have been made in other places in the district headquarters, including Shillong agglomeration.
Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said that shops that deal with cloth products of newborn babies, etc, will be allowed; textile shops, umbrella and raincoat shops, kitchen utensil shops, kitchen appliance repair shop, travel agencies, household electronics, automobile showrooms, will also be allowed to reopen.
Tynsong added that notification has been issued to the DCs to allow the opening of the shops listed, taking into consideration the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as protocols implemented by the health department.
