New Delhi: Actor Sonu Sood is now becoming a known face in a very different arena, especially in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. After distributing food, PPEs, and transporting lakhs of migrants back to their home states in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, the actor has now set up a toll-free number — 18001213771 — through which one can directly reach out to his team for any help.

The actor stated that he received thousands of calls and messages almost every day and that he and his family realised that he could very easily miss out on some people this way. He had earlier posted a video of his phone being flooded with calls and messages asking for help.

So, on Tuesday, he launched this number to facilitate migrant workers to reach home. Sood stated that he and his team are working to reach out to a maximum number of people to provide much-needed help.

During the beginning of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, the actor has fed over 45,000 migrants who were on the streets. Along with it, the actor said that his attempt is to help as many people as possible to reach their home. He also donated over 1,500 PPE kits to various doctors across Punjab and has even offered his Juhu hotel for healthcare workers.

This is in addition to sending many migrant workers back to their states. Terming them as “heartbeats of the country”, he previously stated that one cannot empathise with the pangs of the migrant workers traversing long distances via just sitting in an AC room and tweeting about it.

Sood is also actively working on his social media pages and even provides help to whoever approaches him for any query related to lockdown.
