Highest spike in cases in Tripura

Agartala: Hours after 11 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the state, 23 others were found positive for coronavirus here on Tuesday.

With this, the total number of positive case in Tripura stands at 232 with the highest spike of 34 cases in a single day so far.

Taking to Twitter, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed this development, “More 23 people found COVID19 #POSITIVE in Tripura today. Among them 18 people have come from Maharashtra by train & 5 others were in contact of Positive patients.

Education minister Ratan Lal Nath said that after four more persons tested positive for the COVID-19 virus the state government has decided to test all the 1154 Mumbai returnees in the next two days.

Of the total 11 positive patients, two are from eight persons are the residents of Kowai district while two from South district

“He also said that the additional chief secretary SK Rakesh has handed over the inquiry report of to the chief minister with all the details and observation of the national medical team”, Nath said.

A total of 26,944 persons were placed under surveillance, out of which 16,589 persons were released after completion of 14 days’ observation period. While there are 330 persons in facility quarantine while 10,025 persons in-home quarantine as on Tuesday.

“So far 23,376 samples have been collected from across the state and 22,038 samples were tested. Currently, 31 patients are admitted to the Saheed Bhagat Singh COVID care centre and a total of 730 samples were collected from across the state till 4:30 on Tuesday and 850 samples were being tested in the lab. The recovery rate in the state stands at 83.33 per cent”, Nath added.
