Guwahati: As Jia Bharali in Sonitpur district and Puthimari in Kamrup (Rural) are flowing above the danger mark, altogether 30,701 persons covering four districts of the state—Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Darrang and Goalpara—have been affected during the first wave of flood in the state so far.
Crops covering an area of 579 hectares of land have also been affected due to the flood.
According to government sources, Goalpara has been worst hit with the affected population in the district pegged at 22,593, followed by Dibrugarh (3,750), Lakhimpur (3,513), Dhemaji (625) and Darrang (220) district. As many as 89 villages have been submerged in the floods in Goalpara district.
As per an assessment, 169 hectares of crop land in Lakhimpur district and 410 hectares of crop land in Dhemaji district have been damaged in the ongoing flood. Similarly, altogether 9,804 big animals, 1,750 small animals and 500 poultry got affected by the flood.

The water levels of Jiadhal in Dhemaji circle, Gainandi in Sissiborgaon and Lali river in Jonai are rising and posing a threat to nearby rural areas.
Surging waters of Jiyadhal river, which entered Na-ali Bhojugaon under Dhemaji circle on Saturday, inundated 19 villages of Jiyadhal and Batghoriya panchayats.
Overflowing waters of Jiadhal on Monday entered Tingoriha Mising, Ujani Kekuri, Maj-Kekuri Bhanu Gaon, Balijan, Bordolopa and Soru-Dhekera villages under Dhemaji circle, besides submerging about 410 hectares of cropped area.
Overflowing water of the river inundated Na-Ali Gyanjyoti High School on its left bank and also creating havoc in the downstream areas.

Water is overflowing along Jiadhal Charali to Nolamukh PWD road, creating hardships to the commuters.
In Sissioborgain circle, surging waters of Gainadi has inundated a large portion at Sissi-Sripani Ahom gaon, causing problems in road communication to the local villagers.
In Nagaon, the flood has submerged a crop area of 1,957 hectares. The State government has set up 33 relief camps in Goalpara district where a total of 8,941 people, including 2,281 children are taking shelter.

The flood has already damaged a number of roads and other infrastructure in the affected districts. Reports of massive erosion have also come from Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and Udalguri districts.
The State government has already deployed teams of SDRF and NDRF in the affected areas.
