Imphal: With domestic flight services resuming from Monday, the home department of Manipur, in view of the current situation, issued a modified Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for flight passengers.

A must that is commonly seen in all SOPs so far is the installation of the Aarogya Setu application which is the same for the Manipur government as well. The travelers must download the app before travel and they are also to be medically screened at the point of departure before boarding.

Additionally, all passengers after de-boarding at the Imphal Airport must fill up a prescribed form issued by the health department before proceeding to the arrival hall in a staggered manner.

Full body thermal screening of the travelers will be done by the medical team positioned at the arrival hall and then the filled-up form shall also be submitted to the medical team.

Then all the asymptomatic passengers will be stamped for institutional or community quarantine on their hand with indelible ink and then shall be allowed to move towards the baggage collection area. Symptomatic or suspected passengers will immediately be separated and then sent to the isolation ward or COVID-19 treatment ward as per protocol.

For transportation, the transport department will provide sufficient buses to the police department so that they may be able to take the passengers at the designated quarantine centre which is already decided by the health department. The passengers are required to stay in quarantine centres for further testing and will only be allowed to go for home quarantine (14 days) after they test negative. As for the passengers who are tested positive shall be treated as per protocol.

However, no passengers will be allowed to go home without testing negative or till the completion of 14 days’ quarantine, whichever is applicable in the given circumstances.

Also, the deputy commissioners of all districts are to open new institutional or community quarantine centres to accommodate the influx of stranded passengers.
