Bihar DGP to take personal initiative for safety & security of train passengers traveling to Northeast, Union MoS for sports and youth affairs Kiren Rijiju tells EastMojo
Guwahati: Reacting sharply to the incidents of miscreants attacking Northeast-bound trains, Union minister and Arunachal MP Kiren Rijiju said that he has taken up the issue with railway minister and Bihar government and extra Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been sent to the routes of the trains going to Northeast to maintain safety and security of passengers.
Talking exclusively with EastMojo, the Union minister of state for sports and youth welfare also said that the Director General of Police (DGP) Bihar has assured him of taking personal initiative for safety and security of railway passengers traveling to the Northeast.
“I've already taken up the issue of the safety and security of the Northeast people traveling by train with Railway minister and Bihar government. Extra RPF have been sent towards the routes of the trains going to Northeast. DGP of Bihar has assured me that he will personally monitor the situation and take all necessary actions,” Rijiju told EastMojo.
Earlier, there were reports that migrants in Bihar attempted to board Shramik special train from Gurugram for second time at Semapur station. However, the RPF personnel on duty managed to ensure the safe passage of the train.
According to reports, the Shramik special train carrying over 1,300 Northeast passengers from Gurugram in Haryana on Sunday was mobbed at Danapur railway station in Bihar, migrants at Semapur station also made attempts to board the train as it made a stop for a few minutes due to “technical reasons”.
