Agartala: Three more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura on Sunday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 194 so far.
A total of 991 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, of which three tested positive for COVID-19. All of them had returned from Delhi by a Rajdhani Express train.
Taking to Twitter, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed this development, “9️91 samples have been tested today in #Tripura for COVID-19. Among them 3️ persons found COVID19 #POSITIVE. All of them have returned from #Delhi by Rajdhani Express. #TripuraCOVID19count.”

Earlier, speaking at a press conference, state law minsiter Ratan Lal Nath said that the health department today traced 732 close contacts of the 16 persons who had tested positive for the COVID-19 on Saturday.
“After 16 persons tested positive, the department has collected 1,451 samples and 850 are being tested in the lab. A total of 16 cases were reported on Saturday from different parts of the state. All of them had returned from Mumbai in a Shramik Special train,” Nath said

On Sunday, 12 patients were discharged after recovery and at present only 24 patients are undergoing treated at COVID-19 care centre. The state has now a recovery rate of 86.39%.

He also said that the health department will test the samples of the 732 close contacts of the positive patients in next two days’ time. “A total of 24,513 persons were placed under surveillance, out of which 16,131 persons were released after completion of 14 days’ observation period. Currently, there are 292 persons in facility quarantine while 8090 persons in home quarantine,” Nath added.

So far, 21,588 samples have been collected, of which 19,728 have been tested. Of this, 191 tested positive, while 165 persons have recovered so far in the state.
