KOKRAJHAR: Rajya Sabha MP and senior Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Biswajit Daimary has urged the state government for more quarantine centres for COVID-19 patients in Kokrajhar. He says that a large number of people are arriving in the district and there is a big shortage of such centres.
Interacting with media persons after accompanying Assam minister of state for health and family welfare, Pijush Hazarika, at SAI complex and CIT quarantine centre in Kokrajhar, Daimary lauded the effort of the medical staff and others in their move against the COVID-19 in the district.
Earlier, minister Hazarika along with a high-level team of experts visited the SAI complex and CIT quarantine centre in Kokrajhar and interacted with patients, attendants, doctors and others here.
“Everyone must follow all standing norms of hygiene to beat the COVID-19. Social distancing is a must,” Hazarika said.
Commenting on the quarantine centre in Kokrajhar, Hazarika also said that the state government is trying its best to provide the best of the treatment possible to the people in the district and its adjoining areas.
“This centre can accommodate over 2,300 people. After conducting SWAB tests we are allowing people to go home by maintaining all standard protocols. Everyone here is doing their respective duties properly. We need people’s cooperation, and then only we will be able to win this battle against the COVID-19,” the minister added. Altogether 19 quarantine centres have been set up in Kokrajhar district with a capacity of accommodating over 2,300 people. People from Kokrajhar stranded in different parts of the country are using these camps as quarantine centres.
