New Delhi: Up to 24 migrant workers were killed and 30 injured when a truck they were travelling in collided with another truck near Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh.
The trailer truck carrying the migrant workers was coming from Rajasthan when it collided with another truck that was heading from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh, say reports.
The dead have been identified to be natives of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal who were heading home in the truck amidst the ongoing nationwide lockdown to control the outbreak of coronavirus in India.

“The accident took place in Mihauli in which 24 people died. A trailer truck carrying around 50 migrant labourers was coming from Rajasthan and it collided with a DCM truck. The accident took place on Saturday between 3 am and 3.30 am,” said circle officer, Auraiya, Surendranath Yadav.
The incident comes merely days after 16 migrant workers were crushed by train in Aurangabad. Migrants workers around the country have started moving towards their homes as they are facing the worst difficulties to survive during this nationwide lockdown.
