Kerala jackfruit weighing 51.4 kg set for Guinness World Records

Weighing 51.4 kg and 97 cm in length, jackfruit from Kerala’s Kollam district is all set to beat the current record from Pune which weighs 42.72 kg and 57.15 cm long

Kollam: A mammoth jackfruit weighing at least 51.4 kilogram and 97 cm in length found in Kerala is now on a race for Guinness World Records as the world’s heaviest jackfruit, according to reports.

A family in Edamulakkal village in Kerala’s Kollam district was surprised to have found the giant jackfruit in their backyard. Later, the family applied for Guinness World Records and also the Limca Book of Records.

“When I searched, I found that the heaviest jackfruit weighs is 42.72 kg and was found in Pune,” Johnkutty, one of the family members, was quoted as saying by media reports.

Now, the giant jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) from Kerala is set to beat the current title holder from Pune, Maharashtra. The current world heaviest jackfruit from Pune weighs 42.72 kg and 57.15 cm long. It has a circumference of 132.08 cm, as per reports.

The Guinness World Records lists the world records of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world. It is also to document the ultimate global authority on record-breaking.
