Agartala: The Centre has deployed a team, under the supervision of Dr GK Mehdi, professor and HoD, community medicine NEIGRIHMS Shillong, to assist the state government in its fight against COVID-19. The decision came six days after the state government sent a formal request to the Union ministry of health and family welfare, said Tripura minister for law Ratan Lal Nath.
Nath said that a memorandum issued by the ministry has informed that a Central public health team has been deployed for Agartala, Tripura to assist state health department in COVID-19 management.
He also said that a video conference will be organized between all team members at 5 pm on Thursday where details will be communicated to everyone concerned.
“The details would be placed separately and the team shall be deployed. It will submit reports to the secretary of health and family welfare department and assist the department in the implementation of containment measures for COVID-19 in the affected area in Agartala,” Nath added.
Earlier, the state law minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the health department released 14 BSF personnel from the Ambassa unit a day after first two jawans tested negative for COVID-19.
All the 14 BSF jawans, including the first two, who tested positive on May 2, were shifted from Gobind Ballabh Pant Hospital to the BSF identified quarantine facility.
“According to the revised guidelines issued by the Centre, all those patients having mild symptoms and asymptomatic can be discharged after 10 days of observation from the COVID care centre,” Nath said.
Currently 63 patients are admitted to the Saheed Bhagat Singh COVID care centre, 73 in GB Pant hospital and one in Salbagan BSF headquarters.
